Prestwick

News

The New Year has brought more USAF Hercs into Prestwick as the withdrawl from Iraq continues, but for the most the weather has been pretty bad for any photography. Finally, on the 9th of January it turned out to be a good day, but by the time I was able to get to the airport I'd already missed 3 hercs departing and a formation overshoot by two Lossiemouth Tornados.

The remainder of the day did bring a few more movements, the results of which can be seen by clicking on the photo above. I was also able to fully test out my new 300mm lens in decent weather, and I've got to say I'm well chuffed with it; well worth the money if anyone is considering buying one themselves

My latest video from Lossiemouth, filmed during Joint warrior 2011, is available for download. Just click on the image below and save it to file

It can also be viewed directly or through YouTube

As well as doing photography I've also started trying to do some artwork again. For the majority I'm using Photoshop and it's a totally new way of drawing compared with traditional methods. It takes a lot of getting used to but the possibilities are endless though, and once you've got used to using a Wacom Tablet plus all the different techniques available with Photoshop you can start to get good results

I'm also trying out Letraset marker pens for my Manga art; again something new to me. Any work I do with these i'll also add to the site

My first attempt at using Letraset marker pens. Really happy with the result bearing in mind I've never used this media before

Another practice image. This time the lines used are from a guy in the USA called "Robaato" and more of his work can be seen here via deviantart.com

I'm particularly happy with how this one has come out

I can't take full credit for this one as the lines were done by David Cousens of coolsurface.com

The background and colours are all my own work

It's no way near as good as the original but I used the tutorial they provided for Advanced Photoshop magazine to practice my technique

The end image was actually printed in Advanced Photoshop as David recommended it be put in
